Policy Agenda Items:
A) Medical Hardship – Ken Sands (7358 W. Franklin St.) – Mayor Padgett told Council Mr. Ken Sands is wanting to move a camper in over by the railroad tracks on O.D. and Audrey Rewis’ property. Mr. Sands was born and raised here and currently lives in Tennessee. He is due to have a lung transplant in Gainesville and will have to stay there until after the surgery but will have a recovery period. He has had a problem with mold on the lot he is currently living at and the doctors have told him he cannot live in those conditions. Council member Hodges asked if there is a time frame in case residents ask any questions. Mayor Padgett responded that he is on a waiting list. Attorney Bense added there is a section that states the party has ninety days to remove the dwelling once the medical hardship has passed. Councilman Rhynehardt asked if the applicant has to hand in an application. Mayor Padgett explained she has spoken with the property owner and Mr. Sands is in Gainesville and has not been able to come. The application states a notarized letter is required to be submitted with the application. On a motion by Council Member Davis, second by Council Member Hodges, the Board voted to allow a medical hardship for Mr. Ken Sands to be located at 7358 W. Franklin Street upon receiving the application as required.
B) Review Prior Month’s Expenditures (Check Register) – Council had no other questions about the prior month’s expenditures.
Mayor Padgett told Council they hooked up the last sewer connection today. They still have to pave and do some cosmetic work as well as pump and crush septic tanks before they will be finished with the project. The CDBG deadline is in July.
Mayor Padgett told Council we didn’t have a code enforcement workshop because we have been dealing with sewer crisis out in the field when we come in to work, but we will have one. She handed out a notice she roughed up to send out to the residents of the Town. She told Council that maybe we can get it to the residents next month.
On a motion by Council member Hodges, second by Council member Davis, the Town meeting was adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
